Oslo Norway Transport

Oslo Norway Transport - Oslo can be reached by air, sea and land. The city makes use of its water resources efficiently so ferry connections to various parts of Europe are available on a daily basis. There are daily connections to Nesodden, Copenhagen and Frederikshavn in Denmark and Kiel in Germany. Visitors can also take the train (through the Oslo Central Station) to various cities like Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger, to Gothenburg in Sweden, Copenhagen in Denmark or Stockholm in Sweden. Norwegian trains are known for their punctuality with a recorded punctuality rate of 92.9% in 2005. However, expect some delays during winter as a result of snow and blizzards.

All public transport in Oslo including tram, metro, ferry and bus are managed by Oslo Sporveier, the city’s municipal transport company. However, NSB (the state railway company) runs the local train lines. T is best to use Oslo’s public transport system because parking spaces are limited so driving a car can be a liability.

If you expect to travel around Oslo for a full day then better purchase the Tourist Ticket which can be used on an unlimited basis within 24 hours. However, you can also opt for the Oslo card (available in 1, 2 and 3 day options) as it provides not only free unlimited travel but also free admissions and discounts to Oslo’s museum and other attractions.

But if you really need to drive a car for the duration of your travel in Oslo then there are several car rental companies to choose from including Europcar, Avis and Hertz.
